# Get Attention into Your Calls

> Add Attention to a live meeting, choose which calendar events it joins, record with the desktop app, or upload a recording or transcript.

Attention can join a meeting as a notetaker, join the events on your calendar automatically, record from your computer with the desktop app, or process a recording or transcript you upload. Each call ends up in **Conversations → All Calls** with its transcript and insights.

## Add Attention to a live call

Use this for a meeting that has already started, or one that isn't on your calendar.

1. Go to **Home** in [Attention](https://app.attention.tech).
2. Click **Add Attention to a call**.
3. Paste the meeting link into **Link**. Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams links work.

4. Click **Invite Attention**.

A confirmation appears, and Attention joins the meeting.

## Choose which upcoming meetings Attention joins

**Home** lists your calendar events for the next two weeks under **Upcoming calls**. Each event has a **Join** checkbox. When it is checked, Attention joins that meeting.

1. Go to **Home** and scroll to **Upcoming calls**. Click **Show more** to see more events.
2. Hover the **?** icon next to an event to see why Attention is or isn't set to join.
3. Check **Join** to send Attention to that meeting, or uncheck it to keep Attention out.

The change applies to that one event only. Your auto-join settings stay the same.

<Note>
  The **Join** checkbox is disabled when the event has no meeting link. Add a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link to the event in your calendar to make it available.
</Note>

## Remove Attention from a call

While Attention is recording, the call appears under **Ongoing Calls** at the top of **Home**, marked **LIVE**.

1. Go to **Home**.
2. Under **Ongoing Calls**, find the call.
3. Click **Remove bot from call**.

The notetaker leaves the meeting.

## Let Attention join from your calendar

Once your calendar is linked, Attention joins your meetings automatically. Your auto-join settings decide which ones, for example whether it joins when the host is outside your company. To link your calendar and set these rules, see [Connect Your Calendar & Personalize Attention](/core-features/personal-settings).

## Record with the desktop app

The Attention Desktop App records meetings directly from your computer, so no notetaker joins the call. The recording uploads to Attention and gets the same transcript, notes and CRM sync as a bot recording. See [Desktop App](/core-features/desktop-app).

## Upload a recording

Upload a recording of a meeting Attention wasn't in.

1. Go to **Conversations → All Calls**.
2. Click **Upload Recording**.

   <img src="https://mintcdn.com/attentiontech/XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S/images/all-calls-upload-buttons.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S&q=85&s=ab667704a097ae9eb00eab5c5df3077a" alt="The Calls page header with the Upload Transcript and Upload Recording buttons" width="1592" height="166" data-path="images/all-calls-upload-buttons.png" />
3. Choose one audio or video file, or drag it into the window. Upload files that are at least 2 minutes long.
4. Click **Upload** and wait for the upload to finish.
5. In **Recording Settings**, fill in:

   * **Meeting Name**: defaults to the file name.
   * **Language**: the language spoken in the call. Defaults to your primary language.
   * **Start Date & Time**: when the meeting took place. Defaults to now.

   <img src="https://mintcdn.com/attentiontech/XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S/images/upload-recording-settings.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S&q=85&s=e8f73c10aba8ace03a843f0d01d524e9" alt="The Recording Settings dialog with the Meeting Name, Language and Start Date & Time fields and the Save button" width="943" height="978" data-path="images/upload-recording-settings.png" />
6. Click **Save**.

The call appears in **All Calls**. The speaker separation, transcript and insights take a few minutes to process.

## Upload a transcript

If you only have a transcript, Attention can create the call from it.

1. Go to **Conversations → All Calls**.
2. Click **Upload Transcript**.
3. Choose one `.vtt`, `.srt` or `.txt` file of up to 5 MB, or drag it into the window.

   <img src="https://mintcdn.com/attentiontech/XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S/images/upload-transcript-expected-format.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XQ0aahm3-HcAmk6S&q=85&s=369b4df1f75a9839532ca63d7da8f8b6" alt="The transcript upload window listing the supported formats .vtt, .srt and .txt, with Expected format tabs showing a WebVTT example" width="726" height="984" data-path="images/upload-transcript-expected-format.png" />
4. Click **Continue**.
5. In **Transcript Settings**, check the **Meeting Name** and set the **Start Date & Time**.
6. Click **Import**.

The call appears in **All Calls**, and its insights are ready in a few minutes.

The upload window shows an example for each format under **Expected format**. If Attention can't read the file, the reason appears in the window so you can fix it and try again.

<Note>
  To import calls from your own systems, use the [Import Conversation API](/api-reference/conversation/import-conversation).
